Racing Preview – 26/10/16

Wednesday brings 5 meetings from the UK & Ireland, four on the flat with just the single jumps meeting.

The afternoon action can be found at Chelmsford (AW), Fakenham & Nottingham, with two evening meetings from Dundalk (AW) and Kempton (AW).

Chelmsford (AW)

The highlight of the Essex meeting is the ‘totepoolliveinfo.com For Racing Results Handicap’ raced over 1m2f, with Very Talented, who finished 3rd in the Cambridgeshire last time out at Newmarket, among the favourites.

Dundalk (AW)

A fairly weak card, but the ‘Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden’ (7f) does give us a first look at Galileo foal Squire’s Tale, as well as two other Aiden O’Brien trained horses getting their first run.

Fakenham

The only jumps card of the day sees Neil Mulholland send two favourites over the hurdles at the Norfolk track. Fool To Cry (3:10) won on debut over hurdles at Ludlow. Meanwhile Lee Side Lady (2:40) has won 3 of her 6 starts and Noel Fehily will be in the saddle for both.

Kempton (AW)

Sir Michael Stoute and Roger Varian both send two horses to Kempton this evening, Stoute with Commodity (7:15) & Volition (7.45), Varian with Paper Faces (5:45) & Owaseyf (7:45). All four horses have a strong chance in their respective races. The highlight of the card is the 32Red Handicap (1m4f), a class 3 handicap, with Rock Steady the current market leader, trained by Roger Charlton, who has placed in 5 of his last 6, including a win at Windsor in July.

Nottingham

William Buick, Andrea Atzeni, Oisin Murphy & Frankie Dettori all head to the East Midlands, with the latter saddling Forth Bridge in the ‘Racing UK Profits Returned To Racing Handicap (Div II)’ for The Queen, trained by Michael Bell. The opening two races also feature some interesting newcomers from John Gosden and Saeed bin Suroor among others.

Best Bet

Zlatan – 8:45 Kempton (11/4)

Ed de Giles has Zlatan in great knick, with two wins in the last 3, including last time out at Windsor 9 days ago. Harry Bentley takes the ride and although Zlatan has never won on the polytrack, one of his two visits to Kempton was a 3rd placed finish over C&D, combined with his turf form.
